If you’ve ever dreamed of experiencing Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom, let me just say this: it is not your typical Walt Disney World park day. This is a separately ticketed, after-hours event that transforms Magic Kingdom into a Halloween celebration that’s festive—not frightening—and designed for all ages. Running select nights from August 7 through October 31, the party officially kicks off at 7 PM (with entry as early as 4 PM), giving you hours of exclusive entertainment, lower crowds, and experiences you simply can’t get during the regular day.
What Happens at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party?
Trick-or-Treating Throughout the Park
Yes—actual trick-or-treating. Candy stations are set up all over Magic Kingdom, and you’re given a bag to fill as you go. It’s one of the biggest highlights for kids (and honestly…adults too).
Exclusive Fireworks
The Not-So-Spooky Spectacular lights up the sky with projections, lasers, and fireworks—all hosted by Jack Skellington.

Mickey’s Boo-to-You Halloween Parade
This is the parade people plan their entire night around. Featuring villains, rare characters, and even the Headless Horseman riding through the park. It’s widely considered one of Disney’s best parades.
This is always a must-do for me at the party, I usually end up seeing both parades of the night so I don’t miss anything!
Stage Shows & Entertainment
The fan-favorite Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular brings the Sanderson Sisters and Disney villains to life in front of Cinderella Castle. Winifred, Sarah, and Mary take center stage with their signature humor, calling on some of Disney’s most iconic villains—like Maleficent, Dr. Facilier, and Oogie Boogie—to help them conjure the ultimate Halloween party potion. The show mixes catchy musical numbers, dramatic lighting, projections on the castle, and just the right amount of spooky energy (without being too scary for little ones). It’s the kind of show that pulls everyone in and leaves you smiling (and maybe singing along) long after it ends.

Rare Character Meet & Greets
This is HUGE. You’ll find characters you rarely (or never) see during regular park hours—especially villains and special costumes on some of your familiar favorites. And one of the biggest highlights? Meeting Jack Skellington and Sally, who make a special appearance and are a must-do for fans.
Possibly the 2nd most popular character being Pooh Bear and friends in their Halloween costumes.
Lower Wait Times
Because it’s a limited-capacity event, wait times for rides are often significantly shorter later in the evening.
Costumes for All Ages
One of the only times adults can dress up in the parks—which makes the atmosphere even more fun and immersive.
Why Families Love It
This event was truly designed with families in mind.
It’s not scary, just festive and fun
Kids can trick-or-treat in a safe, controlled environment
Shorter lines = more rides with less stress
Early parade time options for younger kids
For many families, this becomes a core Disney memory—not just an “add-on.”
Why Adults Love It Too
Don’t let the “family-friendly” label fool you—this event is just as popular with adults (and honestly, sometimes more).
Access to rare characters and villains
A chance to wear costumes in the parks
Lower crowds = a more relaxed Magic Kingdom experience
Unique snacks, drinks, and exclusive entertainment and merch
It’s one of the few times you can experience Magic Kingdom in a completely different way—especially late at night when the atmosphere feels almost… magical in a quieter way.
My Personal Take
I’ve attended Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party multiple times, and there are a few things I never skip:
My favorite character meet & greet: Pooh Bear and Friends in their costumes
The Boo-to-You Parade is an absolute must-see (I plan my whole night around it)
Staying late is worth it—the last few hours are when crowds really drop
It’s one of those events where every visit feels a little different, and that’s part of the magic.
Is It Worth the Extra Ticket?
Short answer: for the right traveler, absolutely.
Tickets typically range around $120–$200 per person depending on the date, with lower prices earlier in the season and higher prices closer to Halloween.
It’s worth it if:
✔ You love seasonal events
✔ You want lower crowds in Magic Kingdom
✔ Character meet & greets are important to you
✔ You’re looking for a unique, limited-time experience
It may not be worth it if:
✖ You’re on a tight budget
✖ You don’t care about Halloween theming
✖ You won’t stay late enough to enjoy it
