Pixie Dust and Baby Bumps: Experiencing Walt Disney World While Pregnant

There’s something extra magical about visiting Walt Disney World with a little one on the way. Whether it's your first trip or your fiftieth, navigating the parks while pregnant brings a whole new perspective—where comfort, cravings, and moments of pure joy take center stage. From the thrill of soaking up Disney’s enchanting atmosphere to the practical realities of staying cool, hydrated, and rested, this journey is all about balancing a bit of magic with a lot of self-care. After traveling while 27 weeks pregnant on my baby-moon, I can tell you a thing or two to make sure you’re prepared for a magical vacation!

1. Consult Your Doctor First

Before making any travel plans, talk with your healthcare provider. Every pregnancy is different, and it’s essential to ensure that traveling and walking several miles a day is safe for you and your baby. If you're in your second trimester (weeks 13–27), this is often the most comfortable time to travel.

2. Know the Ride Restrictions

Walt Disney World does an excellent job of posting signage for expectant mothers. Rides with sudden drops, jerky movements, or high speeds typically have warnings. Here are a few you’ll want to skip:

Space Mountain

Twilight Zone: Tower of Terror

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

Avatar Flight of Passage

But don’t worry — there’s still plenty of magic! Many attractions are completely bump-safe and relaxing. No height restrictions USUALLY means you’re good to go, the only two exceptions could be Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway (can be jerky) and Kilimanjaro Safaris (bumpy). I highly recommend checking out videos of these attractions to see if they are something you’re comfortable with riding.

Check out the warning and information signs located outside of each queue to see if the ride is appropriate for your condition.

3. Prioritize Comfort

Pregnancy is not the time to sacrifice comfort for style. Key items to bring:

  • Supportive shoes: Think cushioned, broken-in sneakers or sandals with arch support. But know that there may not be any shoes or inserts that do the trick. Even with my comfort orthotics at 27 weeks pregnant, I still struggled. I even ended up sitting on the Liberty Square Riverboat and ordering different inserts from Walmart to be delivered to our hotel!

  • Maternity support belt: Helpful if you’ll be walking all day and experiencing back strain.

  • Portable fan: Florida heat is no joke, especially if you're pregnant.

  • Compression socks: Great for swelling if you're on your feet for long periods, and on the plane ride.

  • Prune juice: If you know, you know ;)

  • Refillable water bottle: Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!

  • Anything to help with heartburn: For me, it was gum (which is not sold on Walt Disney World property)

4. Schedule Breaks on Park Days and Relaxing Off Days

Plan downtime between attractions and meals. Book sit-down meals (hello, air conditioning!) and allow for afternoon breaks — whether it’s a nap at your resort or people-watching on a shaded bench with a Dole Whip. While on my baby-moon, my husband and I opted to do several sit-down meals by utilizing the walk-up waitlists. Parties of two can be easy to sit!

Off days can be a dream and much needed rest. I preferred afternoons at the pool, a Monorail-loop to shop and eat, a Skyliner tour to also shop and eat, and SLEEPING IN!

5. Capture the Memories

Being pregnant at Disney is a unique experience. Take maternity photos in front of the castle, get a “Baby’s First Visit” button, and make some core memories before your newest family member arrives! During Early Entry in Magic Kingdom, my husband and I took the time to take photos in an empty Fantasyland featuring the bump.

Whether you're waddling down Main Street, U.S.A. with a Mickey bar in hand or taking a well-deserved break in the shade of Pandora, being pregnant at Walt Disney World is a unique kind of magic. It may come with some extra planning and a slower pace, but it’s also filled with sweet moments and a deeper appreciation for the joy all around you. So if you’re wondering whether it’s worth the trip—trust me, it absolutely is. Take care of yourself, soak up the magic, and don’t forget: this is your baby’s very first visit. ✨💫
