Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT is one of Walt Disney World's most popular attractions right now, and for good reason. This family coaster features Star-Lord, Gamora, Rocket, Groot and Drax in an innovative reverse-launch format that's unlike anything else in the parks. Star-Lord can also be found roaming outside the attraction for photos and genuine interactions — and he does not disappoint.

It's a fantastic experience. Just know going in that it's the extent of the Marvel world at Walt Disney World — so if your family's wish list includes more than the Guardians, Universal Orlando is your East Coast answer.

Universal Orlando Resort

Universal Orlando is the East Coast destination for Marvel fans — full stop. Marvel Super Hero Island at Islands of Adventure brings the classic comic-book world to life in a way that is loud, colorful and absolutely thrilling.

Don't Miss: Marvel Character Dinner at Café 4 This is the hidden gem of the Universal Orlando Marvel experience — and honestly one of the best values on property. This separately ticketed buffet dinner on select evenings brings Spider-Man, Captain America, Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm and Rogue to your table for personal interactions, photos and autographs. It's a relaxed, unhurried experience that's harder to find in the parks during the day. Space is limited and it runs select nights only — this is one to book early.

West Coast

Disneyland Resort — Anaheim, California

This is where Marvel fans need to be. Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure is the most immersive superhero experience in any theme park in the country — and my rainy Ant-Man lunch experience is proof of exactly why.

Rides & Attractions:

• WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure — An interactive attraction where guests help Spider-Man capture rogue Spider-Bots. Incredibly fun for all ages.

• Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! — One of Disney California Adventure's most beloved rides. Rocket and the Guardians, a thrilling drop experience, and a soundtrack that will be stuck in your head for days.

Characters You Can Meet: Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Black Panther, Black Widow, Captain Marvel, Ant-Man, The Wasp, Doctor Strange, Shang-Chi, Star-Lord, Gamora, Groot — plus Loki, Deadpool and Wolverine during select seasons and events. The lineup rotates, which means every visit feels a little different.

The Magic That Sets Avengers Campus Apart Here's what no character lineup can fully capture: heroes at Avengers Campus don't just stand in one spot and wait for you to come to them. They show up. Spider-Man performs rooftop acrobatics. The Dora Milaje run warrior training demonstrations. Avengers respond to alerts. Doctor Strange performs at the Ancient Sanctum. • Shawarma Palace — Inspired by the iconic Avengers post-credits scene, this fan-favorite serves chicken and plant-based shawarma wraps. If you know, you know.

Universal Studios Hollywood

Universal Studios Hollywood has a smaller Marvel presence than its Orlando counterpart — no Marvel rides, but Spider-Man remains one of the park's most popular character experiences. Worth noting if you're building a West Coast itinerary that includes both parks.

East Coast vs. West Coast: Which Is Right for Your Family?

If rides are the priority: Universal Orlando wins on sheer volume of Marvel attractions and classic thrill experiences. But Disneyland offers two strong rides plus an entire land of interactive entertainment that goes way beyond the attractions themselves.

If character interactions are the priority: Both destinations deliver — but in very different ways. Universal Orlando's Marvel Character Dinner is a genuinely special experience. Disneyland's Avengers Campus, though, offers something harder to quantify: heroes appearing throughout the day in unexpected, spontaneous, unscripted moments that you can't schedule or predict. That's the kind of magic that sticks with kids — and parents — long after the trip is over.

My honest take: If your family is East Coast based and Orlando is your destination, Universal is your Marvel headquarters — full stop. Walt Disney World complements it beautifully with Guardians of the Galaxy, but Universal is where your superhero fan will feel most at home.

If you have any flexibility on destination at all, Avengers Campus at Disneyland is the most immersive Marvel experience in the country. I've seen it firsthand — in the pouring rain, in a chaotic lunch line — and it still delivered one of the best moments of the trip.
