Why EPCOT Is Absolutely a Park for Kids at Walt Disney World

For years, EPCOT has had a reputation for being the “adult park” at Walt Disney World, and honestly, I agreed with that statement for the longest time. People picture food festivals, world travel, and long walks around the World Showcase. But after traveling with my 2 year old daughter, I learned that skipping EPCOT because you have kids is a huge mistake.
EPCOT is actually one of the BEST parks for families with young children. Between interactive activities, character experiences, playgrounds, scavenger hunts, and attractions with no height requirements, there is far more for kids to do than many first-time visitors realize.
Kidcot Fun Stops Make World Showcase Interactive
One of the biggest misconceptions about EPCOT is that the World Showcase is boring for kids. In reality, the Kidcot Fun Stops keep younger guests engaged while exploring each country.
Located throughout the World Showcase, kids can collect and color activity cards in each country.
Parents love Kidcot Fun Stops because it:
Breaks up the walking
Gives kids something to look forward to in every country
Makes World Showcase feel interactive and exciting
It is also one of the best FREE activities in all of Walt Disney World.
Vacation Specialist Pro Tip: Pack crayons for your young ones, as most spots only have markers, messy messy!

DuckTales World Showcase Adventure Turns EPCOT into a Game
The DuckTales World Showcase Adventure turns EPCOT into an interactive game for kids.
Using the Play Disney Parks app, families complete missions throughout select World Showcase countries alongside Scrooge McDuck, Donald Duck, and friends. Along the way, hidden effects and surprises appear throughout the pavilions.
It is a great way to:
Keep kids engaged
Encourage exploration
Discover hidden details
Make walking World Showcase more fun for the whole family
EPCOT is the BEST for Meeting Princesses
If your child loves Disney princesses, EPCOT is one of the best parks for character meet-and-greets.
Throughout World Showcase, princesses can often be found in their respective countries, including:
Belle in France
Anna and Elsa in Norway
Jasmine in Morocco
Snow White in Germany
Mulan in China
Aurora in France
Vacation Specialist Pro Tip: Moana is located outside of Journey of Water at the front of park, and even though she isn’t a princess, Alice often meets in the United Kingdom!

Festival Scavenger Hunts are a HUGE hit with Families
EPCOT festivals also feature themed scavenger hunts throughout World Showcase where families search for hidden characters and clues around the park.
Popular hunts include:
Remy’s Ratatouille Hide & Squeak
Spike’s Pollen-Nation Exploration
Olaf’s Holiday Tradition Expedition
These activities make exploring World Showcase more interactive for kids, and many include a small prize at the end.
EPCOT has SO Many Attractions with No Height Requirement
Many families are surprised by how many EPCOT attractions have no height requirement, making it a great park for toddlers and preschoolers.
Family-friendly favorites include:
Frozen Ever After
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
The Seas with Nemo & Friends
Living with the Land
Journey into Imagination with Figment
Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros
Spaceship Earth
Turtle Talk with Crush
Vacation Specialist Pro Tip: Don’t walk past Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana. The kids will love the interactive water features, and it is a great way to cool off on a hot day.

EPCOT has Playgrounds and Open Spaces for Kids to Burn Energy
Sometimes kids simply need space to run around, and EPCOT is a great park for that.
Throughout the park, especially during festivals, EPCOT often features playgrounds and interactive play areas for kids to climb, explore, and burn off energy.
Some of my daughter’s favorite spots:
SeaBase Aquarium
Mission: SPACE Advanced Training Lab
ImageWorks - The “What If” Labs
All of this makes EPCOT surprisingly easy to navigate with younger children.

EPCOT Grows with Your Family
One of the best things about EPCOT is how it evolves as your kids grow.
Toddlers may love Nemo, Figment, playgrounds, and princesses. Elementary-aged kids often enjoy the DuckTales Adventure, festival scavenger hunts, and interactive exhibits. Older kids and teens are usually drawn to cultural experiences, food booths, and thrill rides like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Test Track.
EPCOT is a theme park that truly offers something for every age.
EPCOT is so much more than a “food and drink” park. It is interactive, educational, entertaining, and full of experiences specifically designed for children.
If you're planning a Walt Disney World vacation and aren't sure whether EPCOT is worth a full day with kids, the answer is absolutely yes.
Every family vacations differently, which is why I don't believe in one-size-fits-all Disney planning. I help families build customized itineraries based on their children's ages, interests, and vacation goals. Many of my clients are surprised to discover that EPCOT ends up being one of their favorite parks—and for my own family, it's become a trip highlight every time we visit.
